Please be Patient, Bath

Notice, Bath 2016

Details make me think. They sometimes make me smile.

I think this is the “Mk2” version of the notice. I think the bits on the board itself were the first version – perhaps it wasn’t waterproof or wasn’t in primary colours. Note the capitals at the top and bottom in blue.

I don’t think mine would be as creative.

A Beautiful Visitor

Harlequin Ladybird, Bath 2010

Some years there are lots of ladybirds and others there are very few. I believe the Summer of 2010 was very rich in ladybirds, particularly this sort – which I had never seen before.

A little research online, tells me that it is a Harlequin Ladybird (Harmonia Axyridis), which is apparently an invasive species.

At the time, I thought it looked rather neat and beautiful, perched on a wrought iron railing in one of the squares in Bath.

Close-up photography is much harder than most people credit, so I am rather pleased this worked out.
