In the UK, we are in lockdown, which means we are all spending a lot more time at home. This picture is from my morning exercise walk through some park land near where I live. The whole situation at the moment is pretty difficult, but the weather has been beautiful.
I didn’t visit the Reunification Palace while I lived in Ho Chi Minh City, only seeing it when I returned to the country on a flying visit. The building has a rather theatrical quality, which makes me think of a film set. The gardens, but contrast, are cool, dark and rather inviting, with lots ofContinue reading “Tree, Vietnam”
St James’s Park, is probably my favourite in London. In the Summer it gets very crowded, but first thing in the morning as the sun comes up, it really is lovely. More trees! Or perhaps it is more yellow leaves against a blue sky. Or sunny winter days.. As I remember it, this was part of an avenue of trees between temples. Nara is a beautiful place to visit on a day trip from Kyoto or Osaka.
Hangzhou is a large town located a couple of hours (by fast train) from Shanghai. It is popular because of its large lakes and attractive green scenery. On this occasion, I visited during the Spring Festival and it was very busy. Never the less, I had a nice time. It was lovely to sit byContinue reading “Spring Festival, Hangzhou”
Last year, as we were almost past Spring, the clouds suddenly emptied a layer of snow on us. I can remember looking out my classroom window and seeing large snowflakes cartwheeling down the window to the ground. I love walking at night, Berkshire can be quite urban, so that is when it is quietest. IContinue reading “Walking in Snow”
